Construction Superintendent

Job Responsibilities:

The Construction Superintendent will serve as the onsite representation, safety manager and will be the onsite management for B2 Constructors. They will oversee the daily construction activities, provide guidance for subcontractors, maintain schedule, issue daily reports, coordinate with the client when needed, ensure a safe and secure worksite at all times and proactively address problems. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending Preconstruction meetings (sometimes several states away)
  • After reviewing project drawings, collaborate with B2 Project Managers and Estimators to fully understand project scope, drawings and schedule
  • Take the lead for onsite preconstruction activities
  • Develop and track RFI’s once onsite construction is underway
  • Maintain As-Built drawings and drawing logs
  • Maintain a current set of For Construction drawings along with revision logs
  • Maintain rolling punchlist that clearly assigns responsibility
  • Ensure subcontractors maintain schedule by spotting slippage and adjusting work flow
  • Work closely with Foreman to document discrepancies with laborers and ensure daily time sheets are accurate
  • Receive material deliveries, documenting and reporting any discrepancies
  • Coordinate with Estimator/Project Manager using Bill of Materials to order material when supply begins to run low
  • Enforce safety standards and protocols for anyone working onsite supporting B2 projects
  • Lead daily onsite safety and progress meetings
  • Responsible for overall onsite construction success to include: adherence to schedule and specs, quality control, tracking change orders, communicating between owner and subcontractors, daily reports, enforcing safety plan, shutdowns, disputes, commissioning, training and handover

 

Requirements:

  • MUST be very detailed oriented, have excellent communication skills and be able to submit daily progress reports along with photos (emphasis on DETAILED)
  • MUST be experienced in commercial/industrial pipefitting, steam fitting, boiler maker, HVAC, electrical, controls, concrete, plumbing and general construction trades
  • MUST be a self-starter and not require a management directive in order to accomplish their work and have a productive worksite
  • MUST be able to think outside the box and bring a fresh mindset to each project, ensuring each project is as successful, safe and efficient as possible
  • Proficient in MS Office suite of programs, especially MS Excel and MS Project
  • 15+ years commercial/industrial MEP/HVAC/GC construction experience
  • OSHA 30 trained or the ability to become certified immediately
  • Consent to background investigation and drug screening

 

Preference:

  • Federal Government general contracting experience
  • VA Hospital general contracting experience to include VA safety, VA standards and VA protocols
  • 7+ year Project Management experience

 

More About This Position

This is a contract position that will require travel and sometimes for extended periods. It’s expected this position will be hired to manage an 8 month project in northern Florida. There is a high probability the position will lead to full time employment for the right candidate.
